Odunde
1. Odunde is the African new year
2. The Odunde word originate with the Yoruba people of Nigeria, west african
3.Yoruba people embraced the IFA religion
4. It involves the worship of one god and 401 orishas, similar to saints in the catholic church
5. Oshun is one of the orishas and she represents beauty vanity, sensuality and attractiveness
6. Included in its three tiers of worship is ' ancestor remembrance ' in the offering of libations, divinations and such other acts
7. The priest or priestess ask Oshun if our offering are acceptable and if a positive response is given people may make their offerings
8. Oriki , (songs) are sung in a particular order with the bata
9. The Odunde festival is an occasion marked by joy and hope
10. Odunde , has gained a reputation as one of Philadelphia brightest cultural jewel
